CHAPTER 5

Roses and Riches.

Dating. Probably one of the things Kaine was famous for among the ladies. But what they would find out that Kaine was a professional at something else. Breaking up.

Which was why besides the fact that his longest relationship with a girl was 2 and a half months, he had woman just dreaming about going out with him.

Roses, poems, what type of music they loved, what shoe size, Kaine seemed to know his girl from top to bottom. He was the master of romance.

Which was why Jason didn't want his help.

"Dude... you foolish thing."

"Shut up Kaine." Jason said, putting on a black jacket and looking at himself in the mirror.

"Why don't you want my help?"

"Because I want to go out with Amber as Jason. Not as Kaine. I want her to get to know me. If I listen to your advice it's not going to be me."

"I'm better anyway." Murmured Kaine under his breath. He looked at his watch and begin and to feel concerned for his friend. "Mate, you've got half an hour left! Hurry up and pick a stupid jacket."

"I'm done with the jacket. I'm trying to see which tie fits...."

"Tie?" Jason flinched in surprise as Kaine grabbed the gray tie he had put on and pulled it away. "There, you look nice now."

"Thank you." Was the dry reply.

"Now... Got flowers?" Kaine looked up to see Jason frown and shake his head. "Cards?" No. "Chocolates?" No.

The blonde haired 25 year old sighed and patted his friend on the shoulder. "I told you you needed me."

Frustrated, Jason yelled for a few seconds and attempted to pull his hair out. "ARGH. What am going to do now? KAINE! HELP ME!"

"HAHA. See? I knew this was going to happen. I knew it! Can I say I told you so? I told you so. Oh I just did!"

"Whatever. Just help me!"

"I can't."

"What?"

"I can't. You've got 24 minutes left dude. You want me to like pull flowers outta my sleeve, man?"

"WHAT? But you said you could help me!"

"Yes... But not 20 minutes before! I mean you could have just accepted the fact I was better than you and asked me to help you."

"Kaine? You came 10 minutes ago."

"Well. I guess my timing's a little off today. Too bad for you. You know what? I'll be nice and give you some advice. Dude that totally rhymes. Anyway. Go gel up your hair, put some deodorant on, eat a mint, rush out, go buy flowers and then meet her. Hopefully you'll be in time."

Jason had no choice but to do what Kaine had asked him to do. He gelled his hair so it stood up ("The girls dig that, man!") and sprayed on some deodorant ("Really, when was the last time you bathed.") and had some mint ("So she doesn't suffer as much when you kiss her").

Nervously tugging at the sleeves of his shirt, Jason couldn't stop fidgeting, annoying Kaine greatly. The seemed to move faster than usual and he could barely notice the classical music playing anymore.

"You act as if you haven't done this before."

"Well, technically I haven't asked a total stranger out before. Plus she's pretty. And I'm.."

"Kaine's friend. So that's a really good thing."

"Uh huh."

The lift stopped and made a barely audible "ding" sound. Kaine strut out first, followed by his brown haired companion who was now touching his hair.

"Which car should I take?"

"Jason, you only have one."

"Oh. Yeah."

The couple walked out of the block of apartments and out to the main street. Jason's gray car stood next to the sidewalk, illuminated by the street lights. Kaine attempted to give his friend a hug only to get rejected. Jason then got into the car, started the engine, waved his last and sped off into the night.

Leaving Kaine standing on the sidewalk and feeling rather proud.

The time was 5.57pm. Jason was cutting it really close. He had bought the flowers and was driving to the cafe. The lights turned green and Jason slammed his foot down on the accelerator and screeched down the avenue.

Amazingly, right on the dot, Jason arrived just outside the cafe. A faint shadow stood in the night and as it walked out into the light, he could see clearly it was in fact a rather good looking Amber.

"Hey." Was the first thing Amber said after opening the car door. Jason took a moment to study the 24 year old. She was dressed in jeans and a white tee-shirt and without the dull-colored apron on, Jason realized she had a very good figure. Her hair was tied neatly in a ponytail and the make-up on her face made her smile even brighter.

"Hey! Sorry I made you wait."

"No need to apologize, I just got here anyway."

"Oh, okay. Hop in!"

Amber stepped into the car and slid into the seat. The strong scent of perfume wafted into Jason's nose and dazed him for a second.

"So where are we going?" His date asked, buckling her seatbelt.

Jason took hold of the steering wheel and started to drive down the road. "It's this restaurant that's... you know what? You'll find out when you get there. I'm not very good at describing. What can I say? There's food and rather glamorous waiters."

"Haha. Okay, I think I get the picture."

The two laughed for a minute but the laughter died down and silence took over. The car halted at yet another traffic light and the engine seemed louder than usual. Jason wrecked his head for ideas on how to start a conversation. Then he remembered the flowers.

"OH YES," Jason reached behind him and withdrew a rather crumpled bouquet of roses and handed them to Amber, arm shaking slightly, "For you. ARGH." He flattened out the transparent plastic and smoothed down the petals, then turned to his date again and smiled, "For you. Sorry... I kind of sat on it."

Amber giggled and took the flowers, taking in a whiff of the wondrous scent. "Thanks." She smiled then noticed the change in traffic light. "Oh. There goes the light."

"What? Oh-" Jason quickly turned back to the road and continued driving.

CHAPTER 4

I have trouble remembering the fact that Jason has BROWN HAIR and not BLONDE HAIR. and i cant remember if i wrote their age. So if u read a part where i wrote one of their ages, TELL ME. cos i cant remember. anyway temporarily i shall make Jason a 24 yr old, Kaine a 26 year old and Karyn and Amber are both 24. yay me.

Coffee And Cameras Don't Go. Or Maybe They Do.

"So then I took the napkin and I wanted to walk away but I couldn't just ignore the guy just because I didn't know his name and if i ignored him he might have felt neglected so i turned to him but he just stared and I was so tempted to check my face to see if there was a pimple or something cos he just kept staring and he wouldn't stop but then the Kaine guy threw this napkin ball at him and he woke up and then he took the napkin and signed it but-"

"Excuse me?"

"-he avoided looking at me which made me feel really awakward so I walked away and now I-"

"Amber!"

"-feel like I did something wrong which I didn't right? Cause all I did was ask for an autograph and that's not-"

"Amber look behind you."

"-illegal right?" Amber stopped. "What?"

"Look-" Karyn grabbed her colleague by the shoulders and spun her around.

Eyes widened in shock, the 24 year old female could feel her cheeks warm up. Not knowing what to do next, she held up a hand and waved. "Hello."

"Hi." Jason smiled and made eye contact only to look away after a few seconds. He put his hands in his pockets and shuffled uncomfortable. Mind racing, the thespian took deep breaths and finally summoned enough courage to look at the waitress and ask her when she finished work.

"Um... at 5. Why?" Thoughts were flying around in her mind and her heart was beating faster than usual. Why did he want to know when she stopped work?

"Okay. Well since we can't go for lunch.. then maybe you want to.. go.. for... dinner?" Before Amber could answer, Jason quickly remembered something and cut in, "Oh yes, my name is Jason. And I am a very noble guy and will not try to do anything funny to you. Eh."

"My name's Amber... Um.. And I don't mind dinner."

"Erm.. okay.. well. I shall pick you up... here? Outside the cafe. At 6?"

"Okay."

"Okay. Well, bye. I got to drink the coffee. Cause coffee is for drinking.. and not for being left on the table." Jason forced a chuckle but quickly cleared his throat as soon as he realised he was the only one laughing. "Okay, um. Goodbye." Without looking back, he turned around and walked, or more like ran, back to his seat, sat down and knocked his head repeatedly against the wooden table.

Amber stood montionless for awhile, then she turned around to face her friend and as soon as reality hit her, she started jumping up and down.

"Omigosh! OMIGOSH." She grabbed Karyn by the shoulders and started to shake her in excitement. "JASON JUST ASKED ME OUT. HE ASKED ME OUT OMIGOSH." She exclaimed, making sure she wasn't too loud.

"Yes, I KNOW. I was standing right behind you! And you are a horrible conversationist under pressure."

"Well," Amber walked further back to the counter, rubbing her arms, "It was scary! I mean. He's all hot. And I'm all... smelling like coffee and not looking my best. I was afraid I was going to say something wrong and then he wouldnt like me and then he would think I'm weird and then he would walk away and I would have nightmares of being reject by him repeatedly!"

Karyn laughed and put a reassuring arm around her friend's shouder. "I think he already thinks you're weird, that's why he asked you out!"

Meanwhile, among the oblivious customers were two men. One was very amused and the other was panicking.

"WHAT DID I DO?!?!"

Kaine threw his hands in the air and said with much cheer, "You just asked someone out! YAY JASON!"

Jason, however, begged to differ. He shook his head and said, "Nonononononononono.... why? Now I have to get spiffy clothes. And think of smart things to say. And and and..."

"And kiss her?"

"Are you crazy? It's just our first date! I can't kiss her! I don't think I should even touch her! I think I'm going to die! KAINE AM I PALING?"

"No you are not going to die! You are fine. You are just a little stressed out because you are a lonely man who hasn't dated for a long time. But you are happy aren't you? Huh? Happy cause you finally get to go out with a girl. And a pretty one that you keep staring at."

Jason looked at Kaine, then looked at his coffee. He watched the tiny bubbles float on the swirling liquid as he searched his mind. Was Kaine right? Was he really happy?

"I am happy! Wow. I am." Jason looked at his friend and smiled.

As far as he knew, he wanted her.

I AM DONE. blah. chapter 5 is coming. TWO CHAPTERS IN A DAY. congratulate me! read and comment. and i shall do a jig for you.

CHAPTER 3

Doing What I Say Applies To You But Not Me

"Sure." Kaine removed a napkin from it's holder, withdrew a pen and signed his name. Smiling, He passed the napkin to the waitress then went back to his coffee. Next, Amber turned to Jason only to see him staring straight at her. Not knowing what to say, she simply stuck out the pen and napkin before Jason and smiled.

And smiled.

Jason wasn't moving. He was sitting and staring, ignoring the request for an autograph. Finally, after a few rather awkward seconds, Kaine took a napkin, crushed it into a ball and threw it at the brown-haired head opposite him.

"OW! WHAT THE- " It was as if Jason had fallen asleep with his eyes open and just woke up with a shock. He looked around, confused, and then laid eyes on the napkin Amber was holding out.

"Oh.. my autograph? Okay." Amber watched as Jason took the pen and napkin and signed his name. Then he gave it back to her but quickly turned his attention back to his coffee.

"Um thanks...." The waitress hesitated before taking a step back then finally walking away. Once out of earshot, Kaine reached over and whacked his friend on the head.

"OUCH! WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM, MAN?"

"What's my problem? YOU ARE MY PROBLEM. Do you know how embarrassing it is when you do that... that thing? That staring... in a trance thing? IF YOU LIKE HER, ASK HER OUT."

"What? What are you talking about?"

"That waitress. Black hair? Brown eyes? Asian? Pretty? The one you keep staring at? The one who probably thinks you are an escapee from the Mental Institude? You like her, don't you?"

"No. I just find her... cheeks... very interesting."

Kaine dropped his head into his hands. "I currently can't remember why I hang out with you. HER CHEEKS? At least come up with something less stupid!"

"Okay then. I think she has nice... dimples. Yea she has really nice dimples."

Sighing, his redhead companion looked down at his coffee as he gave it a stir. Then he lifted the cup by it's porcelain handle and sipped.

Jason looked down and asked, "So I should ask her out?"

"Oh yes! You've finally said something sensible today!" Exclaimed Kaine, opening his eyes wide in mock suprise and directing them at Jason.

"But I can't. I don't even know her!"

"So? Look, just ask her for her name, tell her your name and TADA! Friends! Then ask her if she wants to go out for lunch. And you've got a date! You'll be happy, I'll be happy because you'll be happy, hopefully, she'll be happy, the whole world smiles more and they save the polar bears."

And chapter 3 is done. It is short, I KNOW. but dont rub it in. im going to do chapter 4 now. COMMENT!

CHAPTER 2

Coffee Is Always The No. 1 Priority

Placing the pen back into her pocket, Amber walked casually to the counter until she was safely behind it. Then she ran up to her good friend, Karyn, who didn't seem to know what she was doing with the coffee-maker.

"HEY HEY! Guess what?"

"Somehow some guy lost his hand to a coffee-maker and now coffee-making machines are forever banned in this world?"

"No! No.. Look, look!" Amber grabber her friend by the shoulders and spun her around so she was facing the tables of customers. "Look at that table, over there.."

Squinting her eyes, Karyn tried to focus on what Amber was pointing to. All she saw was two guys; the redhead seemed to be rather amused by his friend who was furiously telling him off.

"Yea...? Nothing unusual..."

"Look that guy! The one with the red hair, HE IS KAINE... Kaine... something. HE'S THAT TV STAR GUY. And the other guy? The one who's is attempting to throw the pepper shaker at the Kaine guy? HE'S THE GUY WHO PLAYS BRENDON IN THAT SHOW THAT'S ON EVERY TUESDAY AT 3PM."

"Oh you DO pay attention to what you're watching on TV, don't you!" Karyn commented, her voice dripping with sacarsm. Then she turned back to the coffee-maker and smiled with amusement, "Well go get they're autograph or something!"

"Aw, come on, you know me!" Amber folded her arms, "I am not that immature!" She whined.

"If you say so."

Seconds passed. Kaine had managed to convince Jason not to kill him in a cafe and now they were sitting down, not engaged in a conversation, just waiting for their drinks. The cafe was filled with voices of customers, talking about things that ranged from pets to business. Waitresses moved swiftly among the polished wooden table serving delightful smelling coffee and a variety of tentalizing treats.

From behind the counter, a young waitress professionally worked the coffee-maker and as a result, produced two cups of swirling black liquid emitting a bitter fragrance. A fellow colleague eagerly swooped it up and walked towards a table.

"Your coffee, sir."

"Thanks.. you again!" Kaine said before taking a sip of coffee and realising it was scalding hot.

Amber smiled and placed Jason's cup on the table. She then turned around but turned back to face Kaine.

"Yes?" The 24 year old enquired.

"I...I..." The waitress blushed then took a deep breath. "Could I get your autograph?"

that's it. I TOOK A LONG TIME TO DO THIS. im going to camp tmr. BYEBYE. see ya! my knee hurts.

CHAPTER ONE. whoo.

Here's What Hollywood Made (this is a title thing. haha TITLES ARE SO "IN")

The wind blew gently on Jason's stubbled face as he accepted the pen and signed on the crumpled piece of paper. Not forgetting to smile, he handed the paper back and the two squealing girls continued to blush bright pink even as they walked away.

"That girl looks like Natalie."

A rather good-looking man with flaming red hair rolled his eyes and sighed under his breath.

"Every girl in the city looks like Natalie to you! I'm not suprised if one day you tell me that I share some sort of resemblence to her too."

Jason quickened his speed so he could walk right beside the other man. "Oh but you do!" He quipped. Then he smiled innocently, causing his handsome features to get even more charming.

From afar, people might mistake Jason Hardislaye to be just another guy going out for a drink. This was because he was simply clad in a white shirt and a pair of jeans. No make-up, no scary body guards; just accompanied by another guy that could be easily mistaken for his brother.

But being noticed was neither what Kaine and Jason yearned for. They merely longed for a single cup of coffee.

"Really, Jason. You should stop thinking about her!" Kaine exclaimed, waving his hand in annoyance. Then with the same hand, he pushed open the door and walked in. Jason followed behind, with an amused smile on his face.

"Aw c'mon, I came here for coffee, not a lecture!"

"Well you're gonna get both." Kaine took his seat opposite Jason and opened the menu."What'll you have?"

"The usual." His brown-haired companion mumbled. Then he reached for the pepper shaker and studied it, even going so far as to give it a sniff.

"Right. So where was I?"

Placing the shaker back and directed his attention to the lines of the wooden table, Jason didnt look up but answered, "You were about to call for a waitress and order our food?"

Kaine sat back in his chair and sighed. "I was talking about how you should get a new girlfriend."
A nod was all Kaine got in return.

"Seriously Jason... ARGH can you stop staring at the table and listen to me?!!?"

"Okay okay..." Jason looked up at Kaine and grinned widely. "I'm all ears, Kaine."

"Right. Would you act your age please?" Jason's grin inverted into an exaggerated frown. "Oh very funny haha I am laughing. LISTEN TO ME! GET A GIRLFRIEND. NOW. OR SOON. I don't care what colour or size or if she is even human JUST GET ONE."

"Why? Why are you so fussed up, I mean it's MY LIFE not yours. How does me being single affect you anyway? Worried people might think we're gay?"

"No! OF COURSE NOT. I don't know why I even bother anyway. But the fact, is we're good friends and I think it would MUCH better for your reputation if you had a girlfriend."

"You mean my reputation as the sexy, woman-eating guy on some TV show?" Jason yawned and held his head with his hands. "Are we gonna drink coffee or not?"

"Wait. Look you're a FAMOUS CELEBRITY GUY okay? We both are! And while all our colleagues and well, me, are getting really hot girls, you just complain about how you wished you and Natalie hadn't broken up cos now you're all depressed and blah... get over it, man! MOVE ON. Go pick up a girl with one of your smart lines and cute smiles!"

"I can't. I'm a long relationship kind of person. Not a date-some-girl-Iknow-nothing-about-then-marry-her-on-some-deserted-island kind of person. Biiig difference."

Kaine sighed. He turned around and called for a waiter then turned back to Jason. "You're in Hollywood! Celebrities aren't long relationship people. Some are. But you shouldnt be! You shouldn't wait for some special girl to start a relationship with. No need for your stupid principle about making friends with a girl first then going to the next level. Just go flirt with some pretty girl. Trust me, it's just as satisfying."

Shaking his head in disapproval, Jason ran his fingers through his short brown hair and closed his eyes. After a few seconds, he opened his eyes and saw Kaine staring right back at him. "I don't know. I can't. I'm not like that! And I'm tired. I need my coffeeeeee...."

"And what kind will that be, sir? Or sirs. Or misters?" The question gave Kaine and Jason quite a shock; neither had noticed the waitress standing beside their table with a pen ready and a rather confused smile.

"Sorry. I'm new at this so I really am not sure how I'm supposed to address custom- LOYAL customers like you." Grinning as she said this, the waitress seemed to have put herself in a rather awkward position.

"This is our first time here."

"Oh." The grin turned into a frown and changed into an embarassed smile. "Haha. Sorry..." She said, fiddling with her long black hair nervously.

Kaine chuckled and looked at the menu again. "No apologies. Um.. I'll have a Double Expresso and my friend over here would have that coffee he always drinks at other cafes which is...." He traced the menu with his finger and finally stopped at an item. "This."

The waitress quickly jolted down the orders on her notepad and when she was done, looked at Kaine and asked, "Will that be all?"

"Will that be all, Jason?" Jason didn't seem to have heard Kaine though. Instead, he was staring at the waitress with his mouth open and didn't react when Kaine waved a hand infront of his face.

"Jaaaason..." Turning to the waitress, he shrugged and explained, "Don't mind Kaine. Sometimes I wonder if he's mentally unstable."

The waitress smiled and nodded, then left the table and headed to the counter.

"Jason. JASON. JASON!! WAKE UP."

Still motionless.

"Jason SNAP OUT OF IT. Omigosh are you drooling? That is gross. JASON!! HELLO!! GOOD MORNING!! JASON. JASON!! ALIENS ARE ATTACKING YOUR APARTMENT AND STEALING YOUR XBOX!"

Slightly frustrated, Kaine wrecked his head for a way to get his friend to act normal again and stop staring into the space where the waitress had been only seconds ago.

"Argh. You are embarassing me. JASON!! I WILL KIL- wait. I KNOW!" The red haired thespain looked past his friend's shouder and at the door. "Hey... ISN'T THAT NATALIE?"

"WHAT WHERE?!?!" The idea worked. Jason was awoken from his trance. But Kaine hadn't expected him to jump out of his seat and run to the door. Pressing his face on the glass, he scanned the scene for his ex-girlfriend and when he realized she wasn't even in the city. He stomped back to his table and pointed threateningly at his rather amused friend.

"Liar!"

OKAY. this is done. i shall go watch TV now. BLAH TO YOU TOO.
